    Welcome to our bastide

    Welcome to our Bastide

Go through the wrought iron gates, park your chariot under the cool canopy of mulberry tree foliage and breath in the rosemary and thyme scented air of rural Provence.

Les Amouriers is the local dialect name given to leafy mulberry trees. Their leaves fed silkworms in many regional manufactures recognized for the quality of their weave.

The hotter it is, the louder the cicadas. Lola, our Border Collie will guide you onto the terrace and make sure you admire her domain.

We will show you our vast landscaped garden, tell you all about the relaxed conviviality of the house and accompany you to your quarters.

Our Bastide is your home for as long as you wish...

    An ancient Provençal farm

For almost two centuries La Bastide des Amouriers was a working farm. Cows and horses occupied most of the ground floor and hay was stored upstairs, hence the arrow hole windows in some bathrooms. The landscaped garden you see today was a pear and apple orchard. The Les Amouriers gite housed seasonal harvest hands. It is only at the turn of the century that the Bastide gradually became the residence of a prominent local family with permanent lodgings for various farm employees.

    A haven of tranquillity

Wonder around the garden, feel free to leisurely explore the whole estate. Have a lazy swim at sunset or a long afternoon read on the wood-decked terrace around the pool. Sip a lemonade under the olive trees or contemplate nature by the pond.

After a hard day of breathtaking views and stunning hilltop villages where time stands still, you can unwind on the main, stone-clad terrace shaded by the massive plane trees, planted a couple of centuries ago at the beginning of the farm’s construction.

    Your accommodation

There are 5 comfortable B&B rooms on the first floor of the Mas, each with a private bathroom. Gite La Bastide with its vast open plan kitchen/living room on the ground floor, two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs occupies two floors of the west wing. It has a dedicated entry door and a private table on the main terrace. Gite Les Amouriers is an independent structure with an access either from the main terrace or the garden and a spacious private terrace facing the pond.

The 5 B&B rooms are accessed by a separate entry door opening onto a vast reception room. You can pick a book or just relax. There is a kitchenette with a microwave oven where you can make salads, chill your wine in the fridge or make tea and coffee when you wish.

Broadband WiFi is available throughout the house and on the main terrace. We will give you a key to the main door, your room key and a remote for the gate. The car park and the alley leading to the B&B entrance light up after dark.

    Your Provence

Every morning around breakfast we will propose made to measure itineraries, tell you which markets offer the best of local produce and craft and how best to profit from your stay.

Some activities and visits need to be booked in advance. We can recommend a broad range of restaurants we appreciate and which were found, tested and approved by our loyal clients. We can do it either by mail prior to your arrival or on your first morning at La Bastide des Amouriers.

Avignon and L’Isle sur la Sorgue are both within 15 minutes by car. If you like walking, breathtaking hilltop views, magical garrigue hikes and authentic villages where time stands still are only a short drive away on picturesque country roads. Go up to Gordes, then cruise down the valley and up to Ménerbes where Peter Mayle wrote “A year in Provence” . Have an ice cream at sunset in Roussillon and watch the rays give life to ochre cliffs, but don’t stay too long wherever you go. You might end up falling in love with the place and feel an irresistible temptation to come back… for good. That’s exactly what happened us.

Un établissement accueillant et très bien tenu
« Jamais deux sans trois ! »...
